Solar quotes advertise a 25-year warranty as though it were one thing. It is two, they cover different failures, and the one most people are thinking of is the harder of the two to actually collect on.

Dear Reader,

What if you could claim a stake in the largest U.S. financial shift since 1973… starting with just $100?

[**Click here to see the details**](https://www.ef-brownstone15.com/7LKLK3/3B8HKJ/?sub2=ge&sub3=main&sub4=5%5Fcl&ref=genius-energy.ghost.io) because everyone is talking about Trump's new tech law.

*Financial Times says this tech puts America “on the verge of a financial revolution.”*

*Yahoo Finance* says it could unlock $400 trillion.

But after being consulted by Congressional offices in D.C. to help shape this law…

My research indicates it will be even larger.

This law is lighting a fuse under a technology that could be worth $2.6 quadrillion.

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink says this tech will be 100 times bigger than Bitcoin…

Yet is still where the internet was in 1996.

It has nothing to do with the Federal Reserve…

Or new "currency" to replace the dollar…

This new technology is something entirely different.

And Trump's new law is enabling a rollout CNBC calls “an unstoppable freight train.”

[**Click here to get the details**](https://www.ef-brownstone15.com/7LKLK3/3B8HKJ/?sub2=ge&sub3=main&sub4=5%5Fcl&ref=genius-energy.ghost.io) and I'll show you how to claim your stake…

Starting with just $100.

We have so much to look forward to,

### Two Warranties Wearing One Number

The product warranty covers the panel as an object: cracked cells, a failed junction box, a corroded frame, delamination. It is a manufacturing defect warranty. Terms vary more than the marketing suggests. REC and Qcells offer 25 years on the product; Canadian Solar and Jinko are closer to 12 to 15.

The performance warranty, sometimes called the production warranty, covers output. Panels lose a little capacity every year, which is normal physics rather than a defect. A typical module holds 97 to 98 percent of its nameplate rating after the first year, then declines around 0.4 to 0.55 percent annually. At year 25 that lands most standard panels at a guaranteed 84 to 87 percent of nameplate. A 400-watt panel is warranted to still make at least about 340 watts.

Premium modules do better and say so. The REC Alpha series guarantees 92 percent at year 25, on a 0.25 percent annual decline. Over a whole roof and 25 years that difference is real, on the order of hundreds of kilowatt-hours a year by the end.

Degradation is also not linear in the way a spec sheet implies. Most of the first-year loss happens in the first few weeks of exposure, a process called light-induced degradation, after which the curve flattens into the slow annual decline the warranty describes. That is why the first-year number and the annual rate are quoted separately.

Here is the part that rarely gets explained at the kitchen table. Claiming under a performance warranty is not a phone call. It generally requires independent panel-level testing, often several hundred dollars, monitoring data showing sustained underperformance, and documentation ruling out shading, soiling, and inverter problems as the cause. And a successful claim typically yields replacement panels, not money, with labor to swap them usually on the homeowner. For one or two underperforming modules, the arithmetic often does not favor filing.

**The Hardware Stack:**

**REC Alpha Series:** Guarantees 92 percent of rated output at year 25 on a 0.25 percent annual degradation rate, with a 25-year product warranty.

**Qcells Q.PEAK DUO:** A 25-year product warranty alongside its performance terms, a common mainstream choice in US residential.

**Enphase IQ8 Microinverter:** Worth naming alongside the panels, because per-module monitoring is what produces the production data any performance claim depends on.

### Vulnerability Score

**No monitoring:** A system without per-module data cannot demonstrate which panels underperformed or for how long, which is the evidence a performance claim requires.

**Short product term:** A 12-year product warranty on a system financed over 20 leaves a long window where a physical defect is entirely the owner's problem.

**Installer gone:** Panel warranties sit with the manufacturer, but labor and workmanship sit with the installer, and installers change hands more often than manufacturers do.

### What to Compare on a Quote

When two proposals both say "25-year warranty," the numbers that separate them are the guaranteed output percentage at year 25, the annual degradation rate, and the length of the product warranty as distinct from the performance one. Those three figures are on the module datasheet, and any installer should hand it over without hesitation.

Ask about workmanship coverage separately, since roof penetrations and wiring are the failures most likely to actually need attention over 25 years, and they are not covered by the module manufacturer at all. And make sure whatever monitoring the system includes is something you can log into yourself, because without production data none of the performance language means much.
